Frequently asked walk-in questions
Will there be a wait if I just walk in?
Most shops have minimal wait — under 10 minutes typical. Best times: weekday mornings (8-10 AM) and mid-week. Weekends + month-end (DMV renewal rush) can be busier.
Do I need to bring my insurance card?
For smog inspection, no. Insurance is required for DMV registration but not the smog check itself. Just bring registration + license + payment.
Can I drop off my car and come back?
Most locations don't need you to wait — but the inspection itself is only 15-25 min, so most customers just stay. If you need to drop off, ask the front counter — depends on shop.
What if I'm running late on my registration?
Walk in. We can do same-day. If you're past the DMV due date you may owe late fees but the smog cert filing happens immediately so you can complete renewal that day.
