Service inspection terms

Smog inspections follow the BAR inspection protocol. Each inspection includes BAR-protocol vehicle emissions inspection, electronic DMV certificate filing, and free retest within 30 days at STAR-certified stations if your vehicle fails initial test.

Payment + refunds

Fees paid at time of service. State certificate fee ($8.25) is non-refundable per California law. Inspection fees are non-refundable once performed, regardless of pass/fail.

SMS terms

By texting SMOG to our number, you agree to receive recurring promotional and transactional SMS. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Message frequency varies. Standard rates may apply.

Service warranties

Smog inspections performed using BAR-calibrated equipment by California-licensed inspectors. Vehicle repair work (test+repair locations) warranted per California Auto Repair Code §§ 9884 et seq.

Disputes

• Request re-inspection at the same shop (free within 30 days at STAR stations if you needed repair)
• Have vehicle inspected at another BAR-licensed station
• File complaint with BAR at bar.ca.gov

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by California law, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific service. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Governing law

These terms are governed by California law. Disputes are subject to California state courts in the county where the inspection was performed.
