All Tesla vehicles (Model S, 3, X, Y, Cybertruck, Roadster) are battery electric vehicles (BEVs). California law (Health & Safety Code §43002) exempts BEVs from smog inspection. The DMV automatically marks them exempt when the VIN registers as BEV.
